Who we are

Welp, Food's Done! ("we," "us," or "the app") is a meal planning application that helps people figure out what to cook, track their pantry, plan meals, and build shopping lists. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the app, how we use it, and what choices you have.

The app is operated by Welp, Food's Done!, based in California, United States. If you have questions about this policy or your data, you can contact us at hello@getwfd.com.

What we collect

We try to collect only what we need to make the app work and to understand how to improve it. Here's what that looks like in practice:

Account information. When you sign up, we collect your email address and whatever name or display name you provide. If you sign up using a third-party service like Google, we receive the basic profile information that service shares with us (typically your name, email, and profile picture).

Content you create in the app. This includes the recipes you save, the items in your pantry, your meal plans, your shopping lists, and any household members you invite to share with. This is your data — we store it so the app can show it back to you, and we don't use it for any other purpose.

Feedback you send us. If you use the feedback button in the app to send us a message, we store that message along with your email so we can read it and reply if appropriate.

Usage data. We use a product analytics tool called PostHog to understand how people use the app. This tool records things like which pages you visit, which features you use, how often you return, and similar behavioral information. It also records anonymized session replays — visual recordings of app sessions with all text inputs automatically masked — so we can see how the interface is working in practice. These recordings do not capture what you type into fields, and they are tied to an internal user ID, not your email or name.

Technical information. Like most websites and apps, we automatically collect basic technical information when you visit: your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, and the pages you visit. This is standard and helps us keep the app running and secure.

Cookies. We use cookies for two main purposes: to keep you logged in (authentication cookies) and to power our analytics tool. We do not use cookies to track you across other websites or to serve advertising.

What we do with it

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate the app and keep it working (showing you your recipes, syncing your data, keeping you logged in).
  • Understand how the app is being used so we can improve it, fix problems, and decide what to build next.
  • Respond to feedback and support requests you send us.
  • Send you product updates by email, but only if you've opted in. You can opt out at any time.
  • Protect the app and our users from abuse, fraud, and security threats.

We do not sell your data to anyone. We do not share it with advertisers. We are not in the business of monetizing your personal information.

Who we share it with

We share data only with service providers who help us run the app, and only to the extent they need it to do their job. These currently include:

  • Our hosting and infrastructure providers, which store the app and its data.
  • PostHog, which provides the product analytics described above.
  • Email service providers (when we add them), which will help us send product update emails to users who have opted in.

Each of these providers has their own privacy practices, and we try to work only with companies that take data protection seriously. If we ever add new service providers that meaningfully change how data is handled, we'll update this policy.

We may also disclose information if we're legally required to (for example, in response to a valid legal process), or if we genuinely believe disclosure is necessary to protect the safety of our users or the public.

If the app is ever acquired by another company or transferred as part of a business transaction, user data may be transferred as part of that process. If that happens, we'll notify users and the new owner will be bound by this policy or a successor policy.

How long we keep your data

We keep your account information and the content you create in the app for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we'll delete your associated data within a reasonable period, except where we need to keep certain records for legal or operational reasons (for example, to resolve disputes or comply with the law).

Usage data in PostHog is retained according to PostHog's retention settings, which we configure to be only as long as useful for understanding product trends.

Email addresses from people who have unsubscribed are kept in a suppression list (not actively used) so we don't accidentally re-subscribe them later.

Your choices and rights

You have real choices about your data:

  • You can see your data. Most of what we have about you is visible in the app — your recipes, pantry, plans, and lists are all right there. If you want to know what else we hold, email us at hello@getwfd.com and we'll tell you.
  • You can correct your data. You can edit your account information and the content you've created directly in the app. If something else needs correction, email us.
  • You can delete your account. You can request account deletion at any time by emailing hello@getwfd.com. We'll delete your account and associated data within a reasonable timeframe.
  • You can unsubscribe from emails. Every product email we send will have an unsubscribe link. You can also email us to be removed.
  • You can opt out of analytics. When you first visit the site, you'll see a cookie consent banner. If you decline, we won't load PostHog for your session. You can also use browser-level "do not track" settings or privacy extensions.

If you're located in California, the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with specific privacy laws, you may have additional rights under those laws, including the right to request a copy of your data, the right to object to certain processing, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Contact us and we'll work with you in good faith to honor those rights.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your data — encrypted connections, access controls, and sensible storage practices. But no online service is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security. If we ever become aware of a security incident that affects your data, we'll notify you and take appropriate steps in accordance with the law.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in some jurisdictions). We don't knowingly collect information from children in that age range. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy over time as the app grows and changes. If we make meaningful changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, for significant changes, notify users by email or through the app. Your continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
